Reed Plumbing is thrilled to announce a major step forward in our journey of transformation—the appointment of Hacia Atherton as our new CEO. This historic move makes Hacia the first female CEO of a large plumbing company in Australia, setting a new milestone for gender diversity in the skilled trades.
A fifth-generation member of the Atherton family, Hacia is driven by a vision of change and inclusivity. “Becoming the CEO of Reed Plumbing is both a professional milestone and a personal mission for me,” she shares. “With female representation in plumbing currently at just 2%, we have an incredible opportunity to challenge the status quo and bring about real change. I’m excited to lead Reed Plumbing in setting industry standards that ensure everyone, regardless of gender, has the chance to succeed.”
Hacia’s leadership comes at a pivotal moment in Reed Plumbing’s history, reinforcing our commitment to inclusivity, innovation, and setting new industry standards. Alongside her role at Reed Plumbing, Hacia is also the Founder and Chair of Empowered Women in Trades (EWIT), an organisation dedicated to breaking down barriers for women in skilled trades. Through the “30 by 30” mission, EWIT aims to achieve 30% female representation in skilled trades by 2030, an initiative that resonates deeply with Hacia’s goals for the company.
“By collaborating with EWIT, we plan to integrate new initiatives that promote plumbing as a viable career pathway for women and gender-diverse individuals, especially in school systems,” says Hacia. Under her leadership, Reed Plumbing will be setting benchmarks for diversity, workplace wellbeing, and mentorship in the skilled trades sector.
